About Estudia Lab
Estudia Lab is an independent project that brings together two free tools for making music right in your browser: a music generator and a chord builder.
Why this site exists
Making music usually takes expensive software, long installs or technical know-how. Many people just want a soundtrack for a video, a backing track to practice an instrument or a place to try out a harmony idea. Estudia Lab was created to solve that: open the page and start playing, with nothing to install.
What you will find here
- Music generator: composes brand-new tracks in 20 genres, with melody, bass, harmony and drums, ready to download as MP3, WAV and MIDI.
- Chord builder: a harmony notebook with a backing band, harmonic field, chord recognition and chord sheet.
- Tutorials: short music theory guides, such as harmonic field, progressions and reading chord charts.
How it works inside
All the sound is synthesized on your own device, in real time, using the browser's Web Audio API. There is no library of recordings: acoustic guitar strings are simulated with the Karplus-Strong algorithm, electric guitars go through a simulated pickup, amplifier and cabinet, the piano is built from harmonic partials and the electric piano uses FM synthesis.
Because everything happens in the browser, the songs and progressions you create are not sent to any server of ours.
Our principles
- Free: the tools are free to use. The site is supported by ads.
- Free account: generating and listening to songs and using the chord builder don't require an account. The account, also free, unlocks downloading and saving songs from the generator and keeps your creations in the cloud.
- Privacy: what you create stays on your device. The details are in the Privacy policy.
- Made for learning: every tool comes with explanations for anyone who wants to understand what they are hearing.
