Common questions.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Both tools run right in the browser, on a computer or phone. The sound is created on your own device.

Do I need to pay or create an account?

You don't need to pay. Generating and listening to songs and using the chord builder need no account. To download and save songs from the generator, create a free account with Google or email. It also keeps your progressions in the cloud so you can open them on another device.

What is the .mid file that comes with it?

It's the song's MIDI file: it stores each instrument's notes instead of recorded sound. Open it in GarageBand, FL Studio, Reaper, MuseScore or another editor and change the sounds.

Why does the same seed make the same song?

The seed is the number that guides the generator's random choices. With the same seed and options, the choices repeat and the song comes out the same.

What is the harmonic field?

It's the set of chords built from the notes of a scale. In the chord builder it's shown for the chosen key and helps you find chords that sound good together.
